Let Them Eat Cake – It’s For A Good Cause!

This is an archived post, moved over from my old Blogger account- hence the lack of photos! If you’d like to see it in it’s full glory, you can still access it at www.GoodEggFoodie.blogspot.com.

Those who know me will know that I volunteer at the radio station at my local hospital, Leigh Infirmary.

Metro Sound Radio (terrible name, I know. MSR sounds like a superbug) has been in existence for over 50 years; and although patient numbers fall at the hospital those who can access the service enjoy our output.

I co-present a request show, and I can’t tell you how great it is to get to talk to the people on the ward and bring a bit of happiness into their day. It puts all your own gripes into perspective let me tell you.

The problem is that the station is totally self-sufficient. We get no NHS funding so we are a registered charity and have to rely on volunteer subscriptions and fundraising to pay the broadcast license, insurance and repairs to the equipment.

Oh, and our music collection is embarrassingly out of date. The younger patients keep asking for Gaga and DJ Sammy and instead we have to play The Quo or Westlife!

So I am taking matters in to my own hands and doing a bit of fundraising…via the medium of baking! Every year the park opposite my house has an open day: veg growing competition, brass band, 1940s talks- you get the picture. It is a great day but was seriously lacking on the cake front so I have organised to have a stall there selling goodies and will give all of the money to Metro Sound Radio so we can buy music which is less than three years old!

I am planning on a range including cupcakes, brownies, fruit loaf, chocolate cake, lemon drizzle and carrot cake. I will also make whole cakes for you if you order them in advance.

So, here’s the details:
