Go For Pudding…Enjoy Lunch
I met up with some friends recently for lunch at The Cultured Bean in Ramsbottom. I know of this cafe / bistro from my time at FoodNW when they would enter their puddings into the annual NW Fine Food Awards.
So it was always going to be about pudding for me, but it turns out to be a great all rounder.
It was a scorcher of a day so I was pleased to see Mawson’s soft drinks on the menu. Dandelion and Burdocks all round please!
I had a platter to start: hummus, sun dried tomatoes, pitta bread olives (urg!) and salad. It was delicious; the hummus had great texture a million miles away from the supermarket stuff and the pitta was warm and soft.
My friend has a toasted ciabatta with feta and salad. It was a really generous size and was loaded with feta and salad.
So far so good, but earlier on in the day I had worried that it was too hot for pudding. Pah! It’s going to take more than soaring temperatures to keep me away from these delicious desserts.
I had the amazing chocolate fudge pudding with ice cream (my nod to summer!). The pudding is light as a feather and the sauce (which was warm without being boiling hot) was rich and tasty yet not over powering.
Both my mates had the bitter chocolate torte- there was no sharing but I was assured it was delicious.
Sharron and the team at The Cultured Bean use their own free range eggs in the award winning puddings, and they are so good that they are now sold in other retailers across the region under the brand of Ma Bean’s Puddings.
If you’re in Ramsbottom I would definitely recommend that you drop in to The Cultured Bean for some delicious pudding…but also make space for lunch first!
