Fine Dining at Moor Hall, Lancashire

Moor Hall Lancashire fine dining

Fine dining comes to Lancashire

Guest post klaxon: my wonderful best friend Sally was lucky enough to be one of the first to dine at Moor Hall when it opened near Ormskirk in Lancashire a few weeks back. So she agreed to share her thoughts…

We were very excited to be dining at Moor Hall during its first month of opening and we were not disappointed. From the moment we walked through the doors of this stunningly beautiful restaurant we were treated to exceptional service from knowledgeable, friendly and highly professional staff.

We started with champagne in the bar area with its open fire and sumptuous sofas and then headed into the restaurant to begin our culinary adventure. From there we were tantalised with course after course of beautifully presented and delicious food prepared by Chef Patron Mark Birchall and his team. It’s worth mentioning that every course at Moor Hall was delivered on a different plate or serving dish  (including a smooth pebble with a convenient indent!) which reiterated Mark’s attention to every little detail.

Favourites included the black pudding amuse bouche and the charcoal beef starter. My husbands favourite was the brill and the herdwick lamb was a delight. We finished with three puddings – the honey beer to finish was our favourite.

As final treat we were invited into the kitchen to meet Mark and see the team in action. My husband remarked that they all seemed so calm and controlled and it was fascinating watching them work. Our table had allowed us a view right into the kitchen but being invited in for a final chocolate amuse bouche was great fun.Moor Hall Lancashire fine dining

Our evening finally ended with coffee in front of the fire discussing gin and ice carving with Peter the Bar Manager. We could have happily sat there with a night cap until the late hours but sadly we had to drive home.

I had been to see Moor Hall as a building site back in late 2016 and have been following their progress on social media with much intrepidation so for me the transformation was extraordinary. Moor Hall is a very exciting addition to the Lancashire and indeed the north west restaurant scene, I’m sure I’m not alone in expecting the awards and accolades to follow soon.

SHE LOVES: attention to detail, Lancashire hospitality.
